Matthijs van den broek
Enemy/AI Designer
My name is Matthijs, I'm an Enemy Designer from the Netherlands. Currently I have 4 years of experience in Unreal Engine, 2 of which as a student at Breda University of Applied Science where I'm currently in my 3rd year of studying Design and Production.
Enemy AI Design is my focus and main passion, but I have experience in System Design. I love the collaborative work I get to do with various departments and see the enemies come to life while creating memorable, fun and engaging experiences.

Research and analysis
Since 2020, I have been working on video games in Unreal Engine and enjoying every step of the way. In that time I have worked on a variety of solo and team projects. I am currently in my third year studying ‘Design and Production’ at the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) In the Netherlands.
I enjoy working on all aspects of game development, but lately I have taken a preference to anything AI related, which has mostly been enemies so far. I have experience in Tech Design, Prototyping and Enemy Design, but I am always excited to learn new things!
My entire life I have been interested in video games. This all began when I was a kid and I got games such as James Bond 007: Nightfire, Rayman 2 and Pokémon Emerald. Later in life I took this passion and pushed it even further and went pro in some games. I have always known that in my future I would work with video games since I have always loved the challenge and passion games give me. Now I use this passion and love I have for video games and use it to challenge myself creating new ways to make games. I strive to be a better designer every day.
Aside from making and playing games I have always been excited about; skiing, basketbal, breakdance, running, fitness and anything active. I think it helps clear the mind and keeps me sharp in my day to day.
